Convert PNG to WebP

WebP is often the practical way to shrink a PNG photo. The file stays on your device while Glazlo converts it.

How to use it

  1. 1Drop a PNG or a small batch.
  2. 2Adjust quality if you want a smaller or sharper WebP.
  3. 3Download the WebP file.

Good to know

  • Quality applies to lossy WebP. Lower values make smaller files and softer detail.
  • Transparency can be kept in WebP. This page does not flatten it onto a background.
  • Logos with few colors may not shrink as much as photographs.

Questions

Does WebP keep transparency?

Yes. A transparent PNG stays transparent in the WebP this page creates.

Will every browser open WebP?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari open WebP. Older software may still ask for PNG or JPG.

Is this better than compressing the PNG itself?

For photos, yes. This site does not reduce PNG colors, so converting to WebP is the local way to get a much smaller file.

Are files uploaded?

No.
